Lisa A. Bartolozzi was born in Baltimore, Maryland in 1961.  She is a contemporary realist painter who works with the human figure in narrative and allegorical themes.  She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Delaware in Newark, Delaware.  She studied under painting instruction of Steve Tanis, Larry Holmes, and Robert Straight.  Through many courses with Hilton Brown she established her interest in the history of artists’ materials and techniques.  Bartolozzi continues to research and teach about the painter’s craft at the New York Academy of Art in New York City.   She received her Masters in Fine Arts degree from Washington University in St. Louis under a Jacob K. Javits Fellowship.  There she studied with Professors Hillary McMann , Bill Kohn and James McGarrel.
         Bartolozzi lives with her husband in Landenberg, Pennsylvania and maintains a studio in Newark, Delaware.  She teaches privately, and with various institutions as an adjunct instructor. She has completed numerous private and public portrait commissions.  Bartolozzi is currently represented by The Forum Gallery, Inc. in New York City.
